Die Frau

Patrick Belmont

It begins with a team in a gymnasium

Die Frau is a short movie documenting a performance occurred in a gymnasium were performers were asked to train before partying, their warm-up routines gradually unraveling into something more spontaneous—a celebration that borrows the raw energy of sport but surrenders to the freedom of dance.

Yet the scene is not quite what it seems

A precise scaled-down replica of the space where they performed was created to shot some sequences, intensifying the blur between documented reality and manufactured fiction. An early experiment on connexions between clubs and gymnasiums and their similarities (physical effort, sweat, highness, blindness, loss of time, transcendence…).
