Under my alter ego Sam Media, I’m releasing a new EP— A Matter of Sex, four tracks of raw techno and nervous house, designed to scratch where it itches. Club music is often said to be rooted in sensuality—some even claim it’s its core— but in the end, sex is just sex—nothing glam, nothing smart. Not a promise of transcendence, not a fleeting balm for the soul. Just the primitive mechanics of unconscious drives, commodified and consumed. These tracks were made to go down this road. They are cathartic, laced with Freud jokes and angry queer material, a sonic confrontation with the perversion we’ve been taught to hide.
It is an independent, self-released project that’s a deliberate step away from the commercial machinery of streaming platforms. Why no label? Why no streaming? Because beyond the economic and ethical questions, my decision was driven by something simpler: I missed the direct connection—from creator to listener. Freed from algorithms and corporate intermediaries, we might be closer than we think.
