Strapontin and Zillas On Acid are back with a second red hot collaborative EP. Let them tell you all about it…. After completing Acid Straps Vol. I, we knew we had to delve ever deeper into the shared Strapontin-Zillas (Strapozillas?) universe–harder, weirder, wilder. Work commenced as before, with music volleyed across the Atlantic via the information superhighway. Particular yet universal themes emerged with “Dial Up” (modern [mis]communication), “Another Job” (the perils of labor), “Reading Comments” (distraction and the social mediated life), and “In Your Mind” (quick fix platitudes via the self-help industrial complex).

A chance planetary alignment

brought the three of us together IRL in Brussels this past summer to put the finishing touches on the EP while we were all incarnated–TOGETHER–in the same physical space. It’s this raw PHYSICALITY that informs the more focused final release, which we hope will translate to you, the listener, as you carefully experience… Acid Straps Vol. II.

- contenu :
Optimo Music launches a new digital label with Strapontin,

Optimo Music Digital Danceforce, or just plain Digital Danceforce for simplicity. As the turnaround on getting vinyl made was getting ever longer, I wanted an outlet that could be a lot leaner and meaner and get releases out in a far faster amount of time. Some of these may end up being vinyl releases if there is a demand but they will be launched to the world as digital only.
First up is four tracks of sleazy, psyched-out electronics from Belgium’s Strapontin. Self-described as Cold disco, slow techno, queer thoughts, it was instantly falling in love with these that led to the decision to get these out to the world ASAP. Tried and tested. Dancefloor action guaranteed.

- review : «Chugging’ cold disco from Strapontin, a Belgian producer who has the honour of kicking off Optimo’s new, lean and mean Digital Danceforce wing. The title cut bridges classic chug with dynamically up-to-date electronics, and ‘Intraveinuse’ follows suit with a warped, recoiling groove echoing classic Conny Plank production and quaalude-fuelled NYC excess.»

- contenu :
Strapontin + Zillas On acid = Acid Straps

Strapontin and Zillas On Acid have both previously had a release on Optimo Music Digital Danceforce. After becoming aware of Philadelphia’s Zillas, Belgium’s Strapontin got in touch with them and suggested a collaboration. Strapontin says “I got totally attracted by that psychedelic rave vibe and asked to work together and see where our virtual meeting could lead us. Distant work was very simple, fluid and fun.”
Strapontin describes this release as “uninhibited, positively messy and pure rave fun”.
Zillas On Acid say “these tracks are the opposite of subtle, the sonic equivalent of a VCR biting your hand.” They are both right.
