L’homme imaginaire

Patrick Belmont

This performance is built on a simple question

How to reclaim our sexual desire when we’re saturated with pornography? What belongs to us—what is truly ours—and what has been imposed on us by the heteropatriarchal society, alien to our true selves?

Inspired by the CCINQ’s invitation

to create a performance around the album Hot Rod to Hell by musician Man Parrish and gay porn actor and poet Roy Garrett, this piece weaves together intimate reflections—sometimes philosophical, sometimes poetic—about desire and sensuality, and brings us back to what we all share: the desire to exist.
